Carbon Sequestration in Water – Grow

Carbon sequestration in water – growing aquatic plants to lock Carbon!

Carbon sequestration can be done in both saltwater and freshwater. Not only can we bind atmospheric Carbon into biomass by growing plants, but we can also help clean waterways and coastal regions with our aquatic plants!

As with much of Carbon Zero, there are multiple benefits to the sequestration of Carbon through aquatic plants. Aquatic plants do not need the same structural strength as land based plants and so can grow at utterly fantastical speeds – as you’ll read on our page about our seaweed program, kelp can grow at a speed of an inch per hour!
